Top 10 Fantasy Football QBs

When we look at the top ranked QBs this year it feels a tad different then in years past. We have tiers and a breakaway of QB levels but they are currently ranked at elite, uncertain but strong, and might not start a full season. This is why I think it is valuable to get a top 10 QB before your league mates start double stocking QBs.

When looking at QBs you want to understand what the offense looks like and what they bring to the table. Did the team add new weapons? Did they switch their offensive coordinator? Or what else was done to improve or weaken their game. This might seem like a lot but does add value when understanding the player you want to target.

To start with the list lets take a look at the first two who are pretty highly listed at ranking 1 & 2. Josh Allen comes in at number 1 and Lamar Jackson will be there at number 2. Josh Allen finished as QB2 last year with 3,731 yards and 28 passing TDs it gives him the top tier noting. What makes him elite is his 12 rushing TDs and his ability to use his arm and legs.

Now Lamar finished as QB1 last year with 4,172 passing yards, 41 passing TDs and 915 rushing yards. Lamar has the dual threat ability which is why him and Josh Allen go back and forth. I have Allen over Jackson purely because I think Allen has more durability and isn’t as vulnerable when running.

The next tier is a combination of three people who do get jumbled in the rankings from week to week. It goes #3 Jayden Daniels, #4 Joe Burrow, and #5 Jalen Hurts.

We all know Daniels was the exciting rookie last who lit us the NFL and finished as QB4 last season with 3,568 passing yards, 25 TDS and 891 rushing yards. If we look at these stats it is similar to what Lamar Jackson put up and his success there. Burrow and Hurts go back and forth at the moment. I have Burrow at #4 and Hurts at #5. Burrow finished as QB3 last season and hurts was QB7. Joe Burrow does not run but his arm ability and his strong offensive weapons make him earn that rank. Hurts makes me nervous because of where he is being drafted. He is ranked 36 overall around other strong assets like Garrett Wilson, Omarion Hampton and James Cook. It makes me push against drafting him at this position.

My next five are scrambled in my opinion because they each have different high points which makes them intriguing. I would move these players around based on your other target picks. For example if you are trying to draft CeeDee Lamb you might move Dak Prescott up from QB9 to QB8.

I would put Patrick Mahomes at QB6 and Baker Mayfield at QB7. Patrick Mahomes since 2018 has only had one season where he did not rank below QB10 and that was last season where he finished at QB10. He has the talent to be valuable and will be a strong quarterback just do not reach for him. When you give Baker weapons he will turn that into fantasy value. Having 4,500 yards and 41 TDs last season is proof he has the skills and talent to complete.

I have Kyler Murray at QB8. I have a little soft spot for Murray but he has offensive weapons with Try McBride and Marvin Harrison and should be back to full health which should push him from QB11 last year up within the top 10. Dak Prescott and Bo Nix are both within the same zone at the minute. I value Dak a little more because when healthy his is a top ranked player. Bo is still learning and we will see if he dips into a sophomore year slump which is totally possible.
