Overview of both teams
To start, the Bengals have added Joe Flacco as of last week, and that has given them a veteran spark they were looking for. This should mean more engagement for Tee Higgins & Ja’Marr Chase as Joe has a stronger chance to get them the ball. With the increase in the passing game, it should open up for more rushing production.
Here are some stats for the Bengals' Defense up to this week (Click here for deeper stats):
Opp Points/Game - 30.5 (#30)
Opp Yards/Game - 394.2 (#31)
Opp TDs/Game - 3.8 (#31)
Opp Yards/Play - 5.9 (#29)
When I see a team playing the Bengals, I focus on the other team to have some TD scorers because of the lack of defense they provide.
The Steelers, on the other hand, have an average offense with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, but have the effective weapons to be stronger. They do have an above-average defense with TJ Watt taking the lead, which does make it tough for other offenses. They will make it tough for Cincinnati, but not impossible. Let's take a look at some of their stats.
Steelers offense (Click here for deeper stats):
Points/Game - 23.8 (#14)
TDs/Game - 2.6 (#18)
Steelers Defense (Click here for deeper stats):
Opp TDs/Game - 2.2 (#12)
Opp Yards/Play - 5.2 (#10)
Jaylen Warren - Any Time Touchdown Scorer (-135)
To start, Warren just got back last week and did not wait to get involved in the offense. He only ran 11 times for 37 yards, but also caught the ball twice for 22 yards and a TD. He provides large amounts of value so that he will get looks against this week's defense. This can be taken straight or combined with another small player prop to increase the value over +100.
Ja'Marr Chase - Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+145)
Ja’Marr has 4 total TDs this season, with 3 being within the last two weeks. He averaged 16 receptions and 204 yards during this time, which is only 50 yards less than the first 4 weeks of the season. He is a top receiver in the league, and with positive odds, I think it is worth your value to place a bet on his chance to score.
DK Metcalf - Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+150)
To start, DK has a touchdown in 4 out of 5 games, scoring once per game within weeks 2-6 (they had a week 4 bye). With DK’s large build, it provides him a strong ability to score TDs on deep passes and specific routes to the end zone. As mentioned, the Bengals' defense is weak, so I like focusing on DK to get past this defense with minimal problems.
Tee Higgins - Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+220)
A lot of the reasons I mentioned for Ja’Marr Chase being a top bet are the same reasons Tee Higgins is a top bet. Before last week, he had no more than 3 receptions in a game. You add Joe Flacco, and he gets 5 receptions for 62 yards, and his value increases. The Steelers do have a strong backfield, which makes any Bengals Receiver a little bit of a risk.
Long Shot: Noah Fant - Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+460)
I will start with the statement that this one is a bit of a longer shot, but it has some legs. Joe Flacco loves engaging his tight ends to get the ball moving, and this could lead to one of them getting in. Noah Fant has the possibility of moving the ball and pushing to get the ball in the end zone, which makes me like this line.
Overall, bet at your own risk, but these are some of the lines that I like and think have the best validity to grow into winnings!
